Welcome to a new Wildcard Wednesday! I’m back with my now-monthly update regarding my new book, GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s, which was released earlier this year. I’m happy to remind everyone that you can purchase from me here, on Amazon here, or anywhere online that books are sold — including from the publisher itself, McFarland.
One of the perks in buying from me — aside from getting a signed (or even personalized) copy — is that I’ll also send you info on how to access a special Dropbox folder where you can view some of the rarer, hard-to-find episodes discussed in the book. In fact, every month since the February release, I’ve been rotating episodes into that folder. This week, I’ve retained two episodes from the final season of Burns And Allen. They’ll be joining five episodes from one of my favorite 1950s sitcoms, the underrated — because it’s so seldom seen these days — The Bob Cummings Show! These samples are great, and I hope they’ll aid your appreciation of the series, along with my appraisal of it in GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s.
This one isn’t in the folder, but I mention it in passing in my book and I’ve shared it on this blog before. And it’s a treat, so here it is again — a crossover episode of Bob Cummings featuring Blanche and Harry Morton (Bea Benaderet and Larry Keating) from Burns And Allen. It’s “Bob Meets The Mortons,” which originally aired on March 21, 1957. Enjoy!
Come back next week for another Wildcard! And stay tuned Tuesday for more Mother!
