Welcome to a new Wildcard Wednesday! I’m back with my now-monthly update regarding my new book, GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s, which was released earlier this year. I’m happy to remind everyone that you can purchase from me here, on Amazon here, or anywhere online that books are sold — including from the publisher itself, McFarland.
One of the perks in buying from me — aside from getting a signed (or even personalized) copy — is that I’ll also send you info on how to access a special Dropbox folder where you can view some of the rarer, hard-to-find episodes discussed in the book. In fact, every month since the February release, I’ve been rotating episodes into that folder. This week, I’ve put in an episode each of The George Burns And Gracie Allen Show, The Jack Benny Program, Make Room For Daddy, The People’s Choice, and The Soldiers, along with two episodes of The Bob Cummings Show. They all aired 70 years ago — in 1955! — and I hope they’ll aid your appreciation of these series, along with my appraisal of them in GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s.
As an enticement, here’s one of the entries in the folder — something I’ve shared before, even though it isn’t referenced specifically in the book. It’s an episode of Make Room For Daddy that first aired on ABC-TV on March 08, 1955 — “Peter Pan.” Here it is again — and you can read a lot more about the early Jean Hagen years of Danny Thomas’ long running series in, well, you know — GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s! Order it today!
Come back next week for another Wildcard! And stay tuned Tuesday for more sitcom fun!
