Book Report: December 2025

Welcome to a new Wildcard Wednesday! I’m back with my now-monthly update regarding my book, GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s, which was released earlier this year. I’m happy to remind everyone that you can purchase from me here, on Amazon here, or anywhere online that books are sold — including from the publisher itself, McFarland.

One of the perks in buying from me — aside from getting a signed (or even personalized) copy — is that I’ll also send you info on how to access a special Dropbox folder where you can view some of the rarer, hard-to-find episodes discussed in the book. In fact, every month since the February release, I’ve been rotating episodes into that folder. This week, I’ve put in installments of Trouble With Father, Mister Peepers, Our Miss Brooks, Make Room For Daddy, The Bob Cummings Show, and The Jack Benny Program. I hope they’ll aid your appreciation of these series, along with my appraisal of them in GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS OF THE 1950s!

As an enticement, here’s a clip — just a clip — of an Our Miss Brooks episode that’s currently in the folder, “Clay City Chaperone,” which first aired on October 02, 1953. (Note that this scene is typically cut out of the version presently seen on cable.) Enjoy!

Come back next week for another Wildcard! And stay tuned Tuesday for more sitcom fun!
