From Page To Screen: THE PAUL LYNDE SHOW

Welcome to a new Wildcard Wednesday! It was nearly four years ago that we covered the best of The Paul Lynde Show (1972-1973, ABC). At the time, I had only seen 23 of the 26 episodes. But now that the series has been run on Antenna TV — well, 19 of the 26 episodes, anyway — I’ve added two more to my collection, “Whiz Kid Sizzles As Quiz Fizzles” and “No Nudes Is Good Nudes,” leaving “Barbara Goes Home To Mother” as the lone elusive offering.

This week, I’m happy to share a draft of “No Nudes Is Good Nudes” — with marked revisions. This was the fourth aired installment, first seen on October 04, 1972.

Also, for subscribers who have a scholarly interest in this material (no commercial designs whatsoever), I’m offering a copy of Antenna’s syndicated cut of this episode. (Incidentally, I screened the full thing at UCLA in 2015 and wrote about it in a post here.) It’s good enough to be among the series’ best and would likely make my favorites list if I wrote it today.

Come back next week for another Wildcard post! And stay tuned for this month’s Musical Theatre Monday!
