Welcome to another Wildcard Wednesday! In today’s post, I’m sharing an interview with Rob Tapert that was released as a Best Buy Exclusive on the second season of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Referenced before on past Hercules posts, this interview sees Tapert going into detail about some of the behind-the-scenes conflicts that began manifesting during the second year of the TV series, including the beginning of his breakdown in communication with Kevin Sorbo. It’s a really fascinating discussion, featuring a brief clip of Sorbo on Regis & Kathie Lee in 1997. While Tapert and Sorbo touch upon their differences in Robert Weisbrot’s second book on the series, it’s clear here that their issues went back to pretty early in the series (basically since Xena launched). I have this DVD box set but it’s already disc-rotting/dying and I haven’t even watched them yet.
(I was going over my box sets specifically wondering if any of them were disc rotting and sure enough, season two of Hercules has this weird cloudy effect that I can clean, come back to, and its still melting/rotting/whatever-negative-chemical reaction. Tough to explain.
It really sucks and I never want to buy any discs again.
