Yet Another Musical Theatre Rarity: The 1956 TV Production of HIGH BUTTON SHOES

Welcome to another Wildcard Wednesday! With weekly Musical Theatre Monday entries winding down to a close, I felt the need last week — and this week — to share some of the remaining gems in my collection. This is the perfect time to feature one of my favorites: a COMPLETE audio recording of NBC‘s heretofore unreleased 1956 TV Production of High Button Shoes (1947), which aired exactly 60 years ago tomorrow (11/24/56). This production starred Nanette Fabray and Joey Faye from the original cast, alongside Don Ameche and Hal March. Enjoy the audio below — and Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. OhmyGod OhmyGod OHMYGOD! I so LOVE this musical and got to do it at NYU in the “ancient” 1980’s as Pontdue. How I wish Encores would do it, so charming and fun and folksy. Can’t wait to hear this audio, thank you so much and Happy Turkey!!!
