Welcome to a new Wildcard Wednesday! The conclusion of last week marked the end of our seventh year here on That’s Entertainment! Since June 17, 2013, I’ve published 1,224 posts, and as we’ve done for every anniversary, I want to reflect on this past “season” and share a few of my favorite entries. As always, much thanks belongs to you, my wonderful readers, subscribers, and friends — I’m so grateful for your support and kindness over these past seven years. Truly, it’s been a lot of fun and it wouldn’t have been without you all here to enjoy it with me!
Musical Theatre Monday – September 16, 2019
One of my favorite Musical Theatre offerings this past year provided the chance to share an audio of a production that never even made it to Broadway — a show about the notorious Texas Guinan, played by the delightful Martha Raye. Be sure to grab this one, folks!

“The Ten Best THE KING OF QUEENS Episodes of Season Four”
I’m happy to say that with almost every Sitcom Tuesday show I cover here, my intense scrutiny ends up adding to my overall appreciation. But never was this more true than with The King Of Queens, a shockingly funny effort with several dynamite seasons and classic half-hours.

When I made the decision to cover The Danny Thomas Show, I had only a vague idea of how important it was in the transition from I Love Lucy to The Dick Van Dyke Show. It wasn’t until I studied the series with true intent that I realized not only is it well-made, it’s seminal!

“The Best of Benny: 1949-50 (LUCKY STRIKE Season Six)”
I’ve never been able to get back into a rhythm with our Jack Benny posts, because they require so much pre-writing work. But this was the season to which our entire coverage was building: the peak of the series’ situation comedy, before it moved to TV and evolved yet again.

“Sophisticated Suburbia: Anticipating DICK VAN DYKE in the Very Early 1960s”
Another post that fills me with pride is this, a study of several comedies in the 1960-’61 season that both proved how Dick Van Dyke wasn’t alone in its sophisticated suburban thematics and allowed me to highlight three interesting single-season works (and a rare pilot script)!
