Guys and Karens

Welcome to a new Musical Theatre Monday! This month, in accordance with my coverage of the Will & Grace revival, I want to spotlight a musical rarity featuring the great Megan Mullally, a Broadway veteran who’s appeared in Grease, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and Young Frankenstein (in which I had the pleasure of seeing her).

Now, for subscribers who comment below to alert me of their private, non-commercial interest, I’m offering access to a live audio of a one-night-only performance of Guys And Dolls that occurred in April 2014 at Carnegie Hall. It featured Nathan Lane (from the 1992 revival), Sierra Boggess, Patrick Wilson, and Megan Mullally — a terrific cast singing these wonderful Frank Loesser songs, backed by a rousing orchestra (playing the original orchestrations). As an excerpt, here’s Mullally with the classic character number “Adelaide’s Lament.” Enjoy!

Come back next month for another rarity! And stay tuned tomorrow for more Will & Grace!

  1. Perhaps my favorite Frank Loesser musical. For me the song that tugs my strings is “More I Cannot Wish You. I’d love to have your offering.

  2. Hi Jackson
Only seen the movie version of “Guys and Doll” but know much of the Broadway show was never transfered to the screen so it would really be a treat to hear the whole score and hear Megan Mullally sing. Not until recently did I found out she sings.

  3. Hi Jackson. I would love access to this recording. I have no intention of using it for commercial purposes. I would just like to hear it because Guys and Dolls is one of my favorite musicals.
