Give This Little Audio A Hand

Welcome to a new Musical Theatre Monday! This month, we’re celebrating Lorenz Hart, who passed away 80 years ago this week (on November 22, 1943). Hart was a talented but tormented soul who, with his pal Richard Rodgers, gave us a lot of swell, witty songs to remember him by, from great shows like On Your Toes (1936), Babes In Arms (1937), and Pal Joey (1940).

One of Rodgers & Hart’s lesser known scores is Peggy-Ann (1926), which included toe-tappers like “A Tree In The Park,” “Give This Little Girl A Hand,” and “Where’s That Rainbow.” Here’s the last — taken from an audio recording of the 2002 42nd Street Moon Production, offered here for subscribers who comment below to alert me of their private, non-commercial interest.

I’ll also throw in an untracked (previously offered) audio from a 2014 reading by UnsungMusicals. In case you missed it, here’s a sample: “Give This Little Girl A Hand.”

Come back next month for another musical rarity! And stay tuned tomorrow for more Scrubs!
