Welcome to a new Sitcom Tuesday… which is actually a last-minute Wildcard Wednesday! I know, I know; I promised we’d finally get to the opening essay in our Laverne & Shirley coverage, but I’m delaying it for one more week. (It’s always hard to come back from a vacation, you know?) I’ll have a related treat tomorrow though, so stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, I want to take this post to alert you of the fact that Broadway: Beyond The Golden Age, the sequel to the late, great Rick McKay’s seminal 2004 documentary Broadway: The Golden Age, By The Legends Who Were There — which offers interviews from nearly 100 theatrical legends, along with heaps of rare performance footage — is making its long-awaited TV debut on PBS this week (it started airing on August 14). You’ll have to check your local listings for date and time — I believe it’s showing in New York on August 19 and in Los Angeles on August 22 — but I highly recommend seeking it out, either on TV or online. I had the unique pleasure of assisting Rick on the project for a few short months in the summer of 2014, and I can confirm that this was truly a labor of love — his life’s mission, and a testament to his deep respect and regard for Broadway. I’m so thrilled that his producers were finally able to let the world see this film — which is a must-watch for lovers of Chicago and A Chorus Line, in particular — and I know you’ll enjoy it!
